Baptism is an important step in the Christian faith. It's not a religious experience, it's an experience with the Holy Spirit.
Jesus told His disciples ... you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. Acts 1:8
God has given each of us someone to guide us in truth through this life, and that guide is the Holy Spirit. When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth ... John 16:13
... they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them ... Acts 19:5-6
